Edstan & Son Property Developers & Building Contractors was established in 1978 by Edward Stanley Strydom. Gavin Strydom, his son, who graduated with a BSc. Degree in Quantity Surveying at the University of Natal in 1987, and later as a Professional Construction Project Manager, joined his dad in 1996 and was handed over the company reigns in 1998.
Gavin contributed extensively to the Construction Industry by serving in various capacities inter alia: President of the KwaZulu-Natal Master Builders Association for 4 terms (2006 to 2010), Chairperson for the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) (2009-2010), Board Member of Construction Industry Development (CIDB) and Chairperson of the Building Standards Generating Body (SGB).
